I’m looking forward to another marvelous season with the Tokyo Philharmonic and our Tokyo audiences. These concerts will have us exploring staples of the symphonic repertoire from the unique perspective of my special relationship with this amazing orchestra, which allows me to look at well known masterpieces with a fresh approach and an exciting, new energy. Highlights of the season will be our exploration of British music through the flamboyant, intriguing works by Walton and Holst; Tchaikovsky’s Fourth, one of my most favorite symphonies in the history of music; and to make music together with two outstanding Japanese soloist, Michie Koyame and Mai Kishima.
Italian music will not be forgotten either, thanks to Vivaldi’s Four Seasons! I wait for you at our Opening Concert, where pieces by Walton and Mozart will ideally pay a tribute to the coming of a new Japanese age, while Tchaikovsky’s music will move us with its passionate melodies.
Thank you all for your support and appreciation, we will give our best to deliver you convincing and passionate music making more than ever.
