Announcement of Conductor & Program Change for June 20 & 23 Concerts

Our originally scheduled conductor for the subject concerts, Maestro Tadaaki Otaka, has become unable to perform on these dates due to treatment and recovery for an illness. In his stead, we have arranged to be led by TPO’s Associate Conductor Maestro Min Chung.


At Maestro Min Chung’s request, the June 23 program has also been changed to the pieces listed below.


We would appreciate your understanding as refunds will not be available, and we look forward to a great performance conducted by Maestro Min Chung.

Min Chung

 Min Chung is a German-born, France-educated, Korean conductor, who grew up in the world of classical music: symphonies were his lullabies, musical instruments his toys. At Lycée International Racine in France, he studied literature and music, including contrabass, violin and piano. Upon graduation from high school, he continued to study German Literature and Music at Seoul National University in Korea. His sensitivity toward music interpretations and adeptness in different instruments soon accumulated in a focus on conducting. In recent years, he has conducted the Boystown Symphony Orchestra in Busan and SuSeong Symphony Orchestra in Daegu. In 2009 he participated in various charity concerts, to benefit organizations such the Korean Church in Rome and Dongsan Medical Center. In February 2010, he led the Boystown Symphony Orchestra in an unprecedented performance at the prestigious Carnegie hall in New York. In July and October respectively, two operas at the invitation of the National Opera of Korea: Ravel's "The Child and The Spells," as part of First Opera series; and Puccini's "Madama Butterfly" at an open festival of the An-Dong Art Center.
In 2013, he conducted "La traviata” at Teatro Politeama Greco in Lecce, Italy and he made the debut in Europe win a great success and got offer in the next Verdi’s "Don Carlo" is promised immediately after performance (He conducted same opera in Seoul in May 2014).
Min Chung conducted 14 performances of Mozart "Magic Flute" for Children with Teratro alla Scala academy orchestra between September 2015 and April 2016.
He conducted Puccini's "Madama Butterfly" at Mariinsky Theatre in August 2016 and conducted Donizetti’s “L'elisir d'amore” at Teatro Massimo, Italy in June 2018.
He will make his debut for the subscription concert of Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra in September 2019.
He will join the Japan tour of Haydn Orchestra of Bolzano and Trento in June 2019.
