We won the OPUS KLASSIK Prize 2021 in the 20th/21st Century Symphonic Category

We are delighted to announce that Tokyo Phil, conducted by Andrea Battistoni, our Chief Conductor, has won the 2021 OPUS KLASSIK Prize in the 20th/21st Century symphonic category, the most prestigious award in Germany for classical music recordings. The prize went for the international disc, "Dvorak: Symphony No. 9, "From the New World" / Akira Ifukube: “Sinfonia Tapkaara, Godzilla, " released by Denon/MDG in July 2020 (originally released by Columbia Japan in 2018), the first of the five international titles in the "BEYOND THE STANDARD" series, all performed by Battistoni/Tokyo Phil under the theme of combining a classical masterpiece with a noteworthy Japanese symphonic work. Our award is among the 25 categories and 48 winners selected from approximately 600 nominations worldwide released between March 1, 2020 and March 31, 2021.
