Announcement of soloist change for performance of Bizet's Carmen
We respectfully inform our audience:
The originally scheduled bass singer, Mr. Nicolas Courjal, is obliged to withdraw from the role of Escamillio in Bizet's Carmen at July Subscription Concerts for personal reasons.
In his stead, Mr. Andrii Kymach will appear as Escamillio.
We would appreciate your understanding as refunds will not be available.

A baritone from Ukraine, Andrii Kymach won the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World competition in 2019. In the 2025/26 season, his engagements include Shchelkalov in Boris Godunov at the Royal Opera House, Ford in Falstaff at the Hamburg State Opera, the title role in Eugene Onegin at the Norwegian National Opera & Ballet, and Giorgio Germont in La Traviata with Opera Australia. On the concert platform, he performs Rachmaninov’s The Bells with the Warsaw Philharmonic and Vasily Petrenko, and a solo recital at Wigmore Hall.
Kymach graduated from the Bolshoi Young Artist Programme in 2018, during which time he made his role debut as Don Carlos in Dargomyzhsky’s The Stone Guest at the Bolshoi Theatre.
In 2026 June, he also appears as Escamillo in Carmen at La Scala in Milan, conducted by Myung-Whun Chung.
